Ur animals are a species of animals mentioned in a couple of Barron's stories. The stories [[Fear Sun]] and [[The Forest]] both mention a species of Ur beetles. In [[Worse Angels]], a old magician named [[Jon|Mr. Foote]] says the following completely out of the blue: "“The Ur serpents possessed legs,” Mr. Foote said, faint and rusty with the blood dripping from his mouth. “The Ur forged an empire. The Ur ruled Gondwanaland. Before the Aztecs, before Aborigines, and Christ. Humans are an invasive species. The Ur were men, you twat.” (...) “Our day of reckoning edges nearer,” the Magician said." --- ### __Ur animals in Antiquity__ In Laird Barron's dark fantasy mirror universe known as [[Antiquity]], the Ur are animals that (for some unknown reason) have the ability to talk and reason. They are often extraordinarily large and strong. In [[Ode to Joad the Toad]], it is said that Ur animals are nearly extinct and usually have to serve mankind in order to stay alive. Walther Neck from [[Ode to Joad the Toad]] is an Ur toad. The story [[Oblivion Mode]] features a couple of Ur animals: - The dog Mantooth - The horse Flint - The vampire bat Fleetwood - The rabbit Abbot - #Antiquity #Character
