Ransom Hollow is a region or collection of villages near the Cascades in [[Washington State]] where some of Barron's stories take place. In the story [[Blackwood's Baby]], [[Luke Honey]] takes part in a private hunt in Ransom Hollow's mysterious forests, on the grounds of the [[Black Ram Lodge]] in [[Olde Towne]]. [[Hand of Glory (Story)]] features mob enforcer [[Johnny Cope]] paying a visit to Ransom Hollow after being sent there by [[Phil Wary]] of [[The Broadsword (Building)]]. He meets Dan [[Blackwood]] in Olde Towne and visits [[Conrad Paxton]]'s nearby mansion. Dan Blackwood gives some lovely insight into the region: "The Hollow is far from peaceful. We do surely love our bloodlettin', make no mistake. Children go missin' from their beds and tender maidens are ravished by Black Bill of the Wood" (The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All, p. 90) Although the name 'Ransom Hollow' isn't mentioned in the story, the events of [[Catch Hell]] take place at the Black Ram Lodge of Olde Towne as well. #Location #Beautiful #Occultation
