Luke Honey is the protagonist of [[Blackwood's Baby]]. In the story, Luke ends up at the [[Black Ram Lodge]] in [[Olde Towne]], in the region of [[Ransom Hollow]] ([[Washington State]]) to hunt a giant stag.
Luke Honey, as stated by [[Laird Barron]] in his blog, is an acquaintance of [[Miller]], the protagonist of a different hunting story: [[The Men from Porlock]]. It's not certain how they know each other, but apparently [it was Miller who taught Luke Honey how to shoot](https://lairdbarron.wordpress.com/2013/08/28/luke-honey-miller/).
In the same blog post, Barron states that the character of Luke Honey was inspired by the Kid from Cormac McCarthy's [Blood Meridian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Meridian). Barron has stated multiple times that Blood Meridian is one of his favorite novels, and that he considers it a work of horror:
"Labeled a western or historical, I consider it a great North American horror novel that will live in your memory with the power of a car accident." (tried to find the source of this quote but can't.)
