The story Gamma was first published in the anthology bundle Funghi in 2012. The story was later made available through [Barron's Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/c/LairdBarron/posts) on June 14, 2024. The story's protagonist grew up in [[Alaska]] near the Talkeetna Mountains. He later attends college at Washington University in Seattle, [[Washington State]]. The hypothetical star known as Nemesis is mentioned in the story. Barron will later go on to further explore this phenomenon in the stories [[Nemesis]] and [[Girls Without Their Faces On]]. There's not a lot of connections to other stories. But this story is so cool and beautifully written that I instantly read it a second time after I finished it. Wow. #Story
